Thus, it is advisable to use up to 50 mg/day (25 mg each 12 hours) in patients with a weight lower than 80 kg and in those who weight 80 or more, up to 100 mg/day may be used (50 mg each 12 hours); of course, according to how the increase of the dose is tolerated, or whether the desired therapeutic effect is obtained.I cannot be accurate about the foundation for this "maximal dose," but I can assure you that I don"t know of any report in literature where more than such a dose is needed to achieve the desired beta blocking effect.
